Training success with local firm

Calderdale Training is targeting the district’s employers to boost work-based learning opportunities. Supporting local companies to train their staff is an important area for the College and their specialist business development team at Calderdale Training is there to help.

CT recently partnered with St Anne’s Community Services to train over 50 of its staff in new IT qualifications. St Anne’s has sites across Calderdale and provides services for people with learning disabilities, mental health problems, homeless people, and people with drug or alcohol problems. The specialist business development team met with St Anne’s to ascertain their training needs and keeping their staff trained in the latest IT qualifications was a priority.

The City and Guilds Level 2 (Diploma) in IT User skills qualifications allow St Anne’s staff to train in the latest techniques in a wide variety of IT skills including email, websites, spread sheets, databases and word documents as well as the opportunity to train in specialist and bespoke software relevant to their individual job. The flexible training fits around the needs of St Anne’s and their individual staff.

“We are looking to develop those already in a job. Some employers don’t realise the opportunities there are to train their staff and feel there is a catch. As training is high on the Government agenda there is now a massive opportunity for employers to take advantage of funding on offer and the Government wants colleges to take a lead on this.” said Andrew Rodney, Head of the Business Development Team.

Calderdale Training is committed to delivering quality training and work based learning for employers. The Business Development team understand the necessity of being able to provide bespoke training solutions as well as ‘off the peg’ training courses and programmes. They are also available to offer information on the latest funding available to a whole range of business from SME and start-up companies to national and international companies.
